The nervous system consists of the brain and an intricate network of nerves and neurons, which constitute the control center of the organs of the human body.
The ability to feel is the function with which most of us identify the nervous system. In reality, however, the nervous system is responsible for many more vital functions.
The nervous system coordinates all the actions we perform, both voluntary and involuntary. It facilitates communication between the various systems of the body by transmitting electrical impulses, which serve as signals to and from the brain. In addition, it regulates many other vital functions, such as breathing and blood pressure.
As with every system in the human body, the nervous system requires the supply of essential nutrients such as vitamins and minerals to maintain its normal structure and function.
GABA is a non-protein amino acid that is naturally produced by the human body and functions as the brain’s main neurotransmitter inhibitor. Normal levels of gamma-aminobutyric acid promote a positive and relaxed mood.
NOW Foods provides only the natural form of GABA as it occurs in nature. The GABA formulation is considered useful in combating anxiety, insomnia, nervous tension and hyperactivity. It works in the same way that sedatives work, but without the possibility of addiction.
