How does First Step work?
In case of pregnancy the body produces the so-called pregnancy hormone hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin). As the pregnancy progresses, the levels of this hormone in the urine begin to rise. In non-pregnant women the concentration of hCG hormone is usually 5.0 mIU⁄ml, whereas when there is a delay in menstruation, hCG levels are about 100 mIU⁄ml with peak levels of 100,000 to 200,000 mIU⁄ml. First Step® is a rapid pregnancy test that uses chromatographic immunoassay to detect the presence of the hormone hCG in urine for early detection of pregnancy.

Instructions for use
– Take the test out of the wrapper and remove the lid to reveal the absorbent tip
– Place the absorbent tip of the test in the urine stream for 10 seconds
– Replace the lid, leaving the test on a flat surface
– Read the result within 5 minutes
– Two lines positive (pregnant), one line negative (not pregnant)
