Vitamin K-2 is well known for its role in the synthesis of a number of blood clotting factors. * Over the past few years, vitamin K-2 and its dependent proteins have been found to be components vital to bone and vascular health. Proteins are known to play a key role in the physiology of bone mineralisation and the maintenance of vascular elasticity. * Vitamin K-2 in the form of MK-7 (menaquinone-7) contains a biological and highly active form of vitamin K-2 derived from Natto, a traditional Japanese food made from soy and fermented with the bacterium Bacillus subtilis.

Notes: Vitamin K-2 in the MK-7 form (from Natto) remains in the body longer than K-2 in the MK-4 form and can reduce serum ucOC (hypocarboxylated osteocalcin) in the blood. ucOC is a biological indicator of the vitamin K levels in the body and is inversely proportional to the intake of vitamin K. Greater absorption of vitamin K by the body means a further reduction in serum ucOC in the blood.
